In my workshop, I offer a range of crown shapes that I handcraft, without a mold. Each shape has its own unique characteristics and character, and can suit different styles and face shapes. Here's an overview of the nine shapes I create, divided into three categories, from the easiest to wear to the most daring.
Category 1: Easy-to-wear shapes
-
Petal Shape
The petal shape is both elegant and original. It's a unique shape that suits most face shapes, offering a sophisticated touch without being too eccentric. This model is rare and difficult to find. As a hatter, I am one of the few artisans to offer this shape, which stands out for its modern aesthetic and accessible fit. -
Water Drop Shape
Very classic and recognizable, the teardrop shape is the one used for the famous fedora. It is probably the most common and most seen hat shape. Its understated elegance and simplicity make it an easy choice for almost everyone. Whether you are a hat novice or a seasoned hat wearer, this shape is a safe choice. -
Diamond Shape
The diamond shape, also easy to wear, is distinguished by its sharper lines and more pronounced contours than the teardrop shape. Whereas the latter has a rounded back, the diamond shape has more defined angles, which adds a touch of sophistication while remaining classic and accessible.
Category 2: Moderately easy to wear shapes
-
Oval Shape
The oval shape is characterized by a flat, flat top, giving it a tall appearance. This shape can be a little more difficult to wear because it gives the impression of height. However, for those who like bold shapes, it offers a unique style. -
Split Shape
This is a shape often seen in cowboy movies. The split shape, with its high, slightly rounded crown, is moderately easy to wear. It stands out for its strong personality, which adds a touch of character to any outfit, especially for those who like a more assertive style. -
Diamond shape
Similar to the diamond shape, the rhombus shape features even more pronounced angles. Its edges form a well-defined square, offering a more rigid and geometric style. It is a shape that suits those seeking a more pronounced aesthetic, while remaining elegant and structured.
Category 3: The bolder and more difficult to wear shapes
-
Ball Shape
Inspired by the famous bowler hat, the bowler hat is distinguished by its perfectly rounded outline. Simple and popular in the past, this shape has become more difficult to wear today. It evokes the elegance of another era, but requires a certain confidence to pull off today. -
Mounted Police Form
A rare and original shape, it is based on the design of North American mounted police hats. Its high crown is hollowed out on the sides, giving it a distinctive and unique look. This shape is ideal for headwear enthusiasts who like to stand out and are already used to wearing original hats. -
Cowboy shape
Reserved for true hat lovers, the cowboy shape is directly inspired by the hats worn in westerns. It's a bold shape, with a wide crown and a bold style. It's perfect for those who are used to wearing hats and aren't afraid to stand out with a decidedly western look.
